AROBANAM CHILDREN FUND (ACF)

ACF was founded to provide both urgent humanitarian relief and long-term rehabilitation for less fortunate children who have lost one or both parents mainly in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka, including those who have now been displaced to Southern India.

We believe that food, shelter, healthcare and education are fundamental rights of any child. A child’s experiences shape the rest of his or her life and unless action is taken early, a hurt and damaged child could become a troubled adult.

Many things we need can wait the child cannot

Now is the time
His bones are being formed
His blood is being made
His mind is being developed
To him we cannot say tomorrow
His name is today

The relentless Sri Lankan civil war began in June 1983 and ended in May 2009. The war has had devastating effects on innocent civilians in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka. At the centre of this tragedy are young children who have faced emotional and physical abuse. Thus, the main objective of ACF is to provide both urgent humanitarian relief and long-term rehabilitation for children who have lost one or both parents.
